My Mom has this necklace called a lavalier that she bought when I was young. (I have a vague memory of going with her to pick it up, but whereas the Blog Sidekick "thinks she thinks out loud," I have a tendency to contrive my own memories, as in "if you didn't like the past, make it up.") Dressing myself for the wedding will be a long, painful process because frankly, while giant parties appeal to me, white pouffy dresses don't. I am at a complete loss as to what to wear, which may be apparent from the variety of dresses I have posted. (Well, that's a made-up history, too. I have a dress I really like, but I'm keeping it secret.) The one constant in my posted dresses is texture. Whatever I wear has to have texture.
One item I have always known I will wear is my mother's lavalier. (I should probably ask to borrow it first...) It is beautiful and dainty, in yellow gold with a small sapphire and seed pearls along the border. It's a home run because it knocks three of the four "obligatories" out of the way - it's old, I'm borrowing it (hopefully), and it's blue. (You can do that, right? One item for as many things as possible?) Also, sapphire is my birthstone. The point being that any dress must compliment this necklace.
By way of the Perfect Bound blog, I found these earrings from Fay Cullen. (By the way, that price tag is nasty.) They got me thinking about earrings that might match Mom's necklace.
These aren't quite a direct match, so a few hunts later, and I found these on eBay. The first pair has a nice price tag ($49 or so) and is very similar to Mom's necklace, but the sapphires are kind of low quality. I'd replace them if I could.
Speaking of accessories,I found a few hair pieces I like. First up is the COOLEST hair pin because it would match the boutonniere I posted for Tom a few days back. (Of course it would in no way match the necklace. The next three images image are from NY Magazine's Shop-O-Matic feature on bridal accessories.)

I love the headband look - but I hate headbands! Oh well...

I thought this was a pretty take on the birdcage veil (although, I guess there's no veil there...)
