I kind of hate it when bloggers post excuses about why they've been absent from their blogs, but here I am doing the same. I'm on hour 29 of a migraine, luckily post-call so only 8 of those hours were in patient care. Hoping this thing goes away by tomorrow. No promises.
Nothing to report in wedding-land this week. Kind of liking the idea of incorporating feathers - turkey feathers in the boutonnieres, ostrich feathers in my hair and/or surrounding the flowers in my bouquet (a trip to Wegman's this weeks has near-convinced me of an all-iris bouquet, maybe blue for the bridesmaids and white for me?), feathered angel wings on my flower girl, Ava.
Side note: that mercy helicopter flight just came really close to my building. Closer than usual.
Struggling a bit with orthopedics. I'm realizing more and more how much I like the procedural (read: surgical) specialties, but organ system choice is crucial. There are some systems in the body, and patients that go along with them, that I do not prefer. Maybe because orthopedics is about pain and limitation in people who are typically very active, but this is a patient population that would seriously benefit from a team approach to work on coping skills. Just my opinion. Oh, and to that resident who said I'm "definitely primary care" because I hug patients? You should try it sometime. It might make you enjoy your job more.
