Invitations #9224

Since it's been a while, how about another post on invitations? (Sigh...)

I really dig Heather Armstrong's blog, Dooce, and I realize that it is not for the faint of heart. One of the things that brought me into her blog was her sense of style. Today she showcased these note cards from Etsy seller One Punk Pony. I know that Tom and I differ a lot on our preferences for the invites, but I'll just showcase mine this time. While I love the look of Letterpress, the need to use one or two colors for financial purposes is very, very constraining. Also, I really would like to use the scientific naturalist theme, but I find flowers similarly constraining (and...feminine), and am terrible at trying to recreate the pop-art/graphic style that Tom so goes for. I've been toying with the idea of using sea forms on the invites, and have even saved a few images, but never have I seen this idea translated so well as these note cards. They're kind of a win-win-win situation: 1) continue the scientific theme in a very beautiful way; 2) get to use my Gocco and several colors since the designs seem simplistic with a lot of negative space; and/or 3) collaborate with One Punk Pony and support a small business (while hopefully saving some money and headache on the design process).
