I've been combing through my bookshelves in preparation for the move. I've been saving greeting cards in a Little Prince box since at least 1998. How fun to see postcards from Shanghai, London, Paris, Turkey...all the places my friends have gone. But the best are the sentiments from Mom.

In a reference to my famously narrow feet: "So AC, again I'd rather supply than shop for shoes (!) for you. Be of good stamina, wit, and beauty."

"Hey love- be of giggles & sunshine."

"I hope the apt is taking good shape & you have lovely dreams in your new room...life needs to be an adventure not all chores so- make me a cup of tea in your new cups when next I visit."

Shortly after 9/11: "We're on heightened alert & the soldiers are back at Lincoln Center. The world seems troubled, but families should huddle."

"We've been to a land of unicorns ~ Atlantic City but I like my make believe better at the Met."

And my all time favorite: "balance is tricky & ya know...it never lasts the night."
