Weekend Round-Up

So, I've missed the last three weekend round-ups in a row, most of which were busy. During that time, I co-hosted a bridal shower, celebrated a wedding and my residency match with Tom in Georgia, completed two overnight emergency room shifts, and slept. A lot. So I'm passed due with those ones and don't think I'll get around to writing them. Something about shaking the magic dust off the thing.

I finished my business school class at 10:30 on Friday (probably more on that later), and home I went to work on patent research and product design. In other words, I played "Tom" for an afternoon, albeit poorly. It was a beautiful summery weekend Upstate, so I went for a 45 minute walk through the cemetery next to my house (and across from the hospital, natch). I'm currently on Week 2 of the Nike+ Walk to Run program, and I'm feeling lively. Don't remember much of Friday night. I'm sure it involved eating old bok choy and watching reruns of "Law & Order."

I made it to the public market on Saturday morning at exactly the worst time to go: 11 AM, when everyone and there mothers were there enjoying the sunshine. I waited 20 minutes in line for coffee, all the while designing improved systems for coffee-getting. There need to be two lines when the weather gets above 60 degrees - one for the coffee drinkers, and one for the smoothie/frappucino/I-like-my-drinks-with-1000+-calories people. Let the smoothie people suffer and wait while the rest of us sail through. I was disappointed with the market this weekend because it was mostly wholesalers with a lot of citrus. (I thought there was a citrus shortage, actually.) Somehow, I expected there to be a lot more homegrown stuff, like English peas and flowers, but I assume I'm two weeks early on that one. And no rhubarb yet! I managed to snag a bouquet of 25 orange spray roses for $10. Really pretty on my kitchen table, though I'm not sure how long they'll last. I went for a walk/run in the sunshine around five o'clock. Anat came over later that evening for some girly bonding time. How much fun it is being a girl! We made signs for her wedding based around one I made for her shower, based off of this design from Darling Dexter. We rented "Up" and laughed at ourselves for crying. Bed at 2 AM.

I slept in and missed church on Sunday. Bad Unitarian, I know! I picked up some salad ingredients and a 2 bunches of yellow and white ranunculus for Heather, Aukai, and the boys. (Sadly, no pictures.) They had me over for Easter dinner and we enjoyed grilled lamb, salad, fruit salad, lemon bars just like my mom used to make, and strawberry short cake. Hanging with their boys reminded me how much I miss my brother's monsters, La Belle Cutie and Full Throttle. Thanks for a great evening, guys.

How I'll miss you so...
