The verdict: I still have no idea where I'm marrying that man of mine. It is nice to have more realistic numbers and expectations of what certain venues can provide, but it is never far from my mind how expensive this one day will be. I try to remind myself that weddings are a gesture to the community - you marry in public so that a community can stand witness and agree to support you through good times and bad, just as you vow to support each other.
At the end of the week, our priorities remained what they had been at the beginning: food, the "wow" factor, and photography. Music would be next. The goal is to achieve the ultimate fun party, and attend to guest comfort - hence outdoor space, accessible bathrooms, or hidden "recharge" areas are all pluses. A space that is easy to work with would be a major bonus, but it also seems that caterers and florists go a long way in helping coordinate the details.
My choices (in no specific order): the Westside Loft/Loft Eleven/Studio 450, the Foundry, and the Metropolitan Building.
I have one last venue in mind to visit...
