Rings

More than a few people Tom and I know have gotten engaged - I'm talking to you, Andy and Jamie! Congratulations! - say, about 3 couples, with one more on the way (cough, Intercontinental Wedding). Which has naturally got me thinking about rings.

I'm not sure how I feel about posting my own engagement ring on this blog, so I'll show you a few "inspirational" pictures. This was the first ring I ever fell in love with (from Doyle & Doyle on the Lower East Side):

Then I saw this ring at Michael C. Fina in Midtown. (Note that is a blue diamond, which automatically makes this ring worth $250,000. Baby has taste.)

The ever crafty Tom created an inspired-by piece with the family jeweler, Distinctive Diamonds. Looking back now on the Doyle & Doyle ring, it's funny how similar my actual ring is to my first love.

Tom and I have casually scouted wedding rings for him. I like it, it's funny to watch him struggle with the idea that he's picking something out that he'll have to wear for the rest of his life, that there's no room for error. No pressure, Tom, seriously. Now you know how it feels. It's also interesting to hear his ideas about what he'd like. One of the benefits to being in a long distance engagement (and there are a few, surprisingly), is that I get to continuously uncover hidden or secret parts of Tom's personality. Novelty is important in a relationship, or so I've heard. In no determined order, then, I present to you possible contenders for Tom's hand. (Hee hee.)

The flat comfort fit band (okay, I lied, this is my favorite, so I listed it first).

One with milgrain to match my ring, and a really beautiful satin finish in the middle. (This is the kind of ring that's much prettier in person. From Jared's, of all places.)

From Tiffany's, but of course. (And Tom's favorite, so I saved it for last.)

For myself, I have my eye set on a thin (2 mm) band, but I can't decide myself between a round or a flat style.

But then I saw Lena Corwin's wedding bands, and I fell in love with the pearl wire one at the top. Hmmm....

The first ring looks just like the one I just received from my fiance's mother! It was her mothers ring and it is gorgeous!

It is hilarious watching Bryan look at rings. I think he is in denial... his father never really wears his ring so he thinks he doesn't have to wear it, which I told him was not how it was going to be :) Surprisingly though he likes black tungsten rings... go figure :)
