Grace Kelly

So...I've been writing a post in my head all day about this amazing lecture I went to on autism today. But instead, I got side-tracked by pictures of Grace Kelly. I think my top three style icons are Grace Kelly, Michelle Williams, and Carolyn Bisset Kennedy. (All blondes, how funny.) I promise, Mom, that I have only shown pictures of my dress to the people you approved, and I was delighted when one of them said how "Grace Kelly" my wedding dress was. In fact, it looks nothing like Grace Kelly's dress, but I am psyched, psyched, that someone would think it had a similar feel. (And I recognize that I am only one of a legion of women who want to look like Grace Kelly on their wedding days.)

Incidentally, Vogue sells a sewing pattern for Princess Grace's dress, and I had half a mind (really, I did consider it) of buying the pattern and having it made.

And finally, a picture of the chic suit she wore for her civil ceremony to Prince Rainier. There is just something so youthful about a fitted, cropped jacket and full A-line skirt. How I would love to ressurect that style! Wouldn't it be just the neatest way to leave for your honeymoon?

(PS...Always wanted to have a daughter named Gracie. It's just so...elegant girl-next-door. And very un-New York.)

That's so funny. I actualy saw that exact same pattern a few months ago and thought I wish, wish I would have seen that pattern before I was married.

But alas . . .

Regardless, your dress IS very classy.
