On Martha Stewart's wedding blog (actually authored by Darcy Miller), they had a post looking for brides in the NYC area with unusual stories for an upcoming tv show. One of the criteria they were looking for is a bride who "HATE[s] something typically a favorite." I have half a mind to write in about how much I abhor the color pink (and birds). But pink, really. I absolutely hate looking at weddings that look like the Barbie dream house exploded inside of the wedding venue. Nothing says "I like controlling my husband" and "it's all about me" than pink as a dominant color. Perhaps I'm a bit strong...there are beautiful shades of pink in the world, like shell and peach and dusty rose. And no offense to any of my four readers who might have had a pink-themed wedding (this is just my opinion on my personal blog, after all), but I think wedding colors should be chosen thoughtfully with an eye to photographs. It's not that I'm against intense colors - my inspiration is after all foliage against a blue sky - but bubble gum pink is just one of those colors that sends a strong gender message. Kind of similar to me as having a wedding all maroon, brown, and gray (which would likely be Tom's holy trinity after blue, gray, and brown).
So, to turn some of the criticism on me, one of Tom's most frequent critiques of my mock-up invites is my color choice. I admit it, I have never been to arts school. The only colors I know are H&E pink and blue (doctor joke), so I decided to one-up Tom. Turns out, there are some wonderful websites that can help you put together color palettes. The one above, "Breve," is from Kuler. A bit slow at times, but the Pantone website (the paint people) has some great features, such as their seasonal "colour planner." Pittsburgh Paints has a neat quiz to "discover your color personality" (mine apparently is "Almonds and Honey," followed by "Desert Spice").

"Almonds and Honey," represent!
Oooh ooooh ooooh, maybe some Nat Port/Ann Boleyn saucy green and some ScarJo/Sister Mary red.
Epic.
You forgot "black" for the Tom!
