One of the big fads in wedding planning is the "design board." Very similar to an interior designer's pitch, a wedding design board is typically built around a theme or color palette. "Heavy hitters" include pictures of the invites, the cake, the dress, the flowers, and the centerpieces. The idea is so popular that there is an entire website,
Snippet and Ink, devoted to daily design boards. I am fascinated by this idea, not least because the author is a student like me (where does she find the time?) and because she is designing for "fantasy" weddings. While her boards are all very pretty, clever, and visually cohesive, they often feel "cold" to me, in that I am aware of a detachment emanating from them, i.e. their designer is not necessarily personally invested in the material. Herewith are a few of my favorites from the site. Try to see if you can spot a "trend."*

I just love, love, love this color palette! I think the Harney & Sons tea would make great favors, especially since Tom loves tea so.

The title of this board is "The Little Prince." Needless to say I was most captivated this board, largely because, while beautiful, it is decidedly NOT how I would have designed a "Little Prince" board.

I have always loved this board, but maybe that's because it's named "quirky event."

And finally, for Tom, a fall inspired event, complete with the wheat centerpiece idea he liked.
