#318

The dressers were delivered last Saturday, so this weekend - in between studying, knitting, and cleaning - I set out to refurbish them with some good old Murphy's oil soap and orange oil. They are so beautiful and well-made.

I also got into the spirit of Memorial Day and decided to make this rustic apple tart. I'm not sure what to think of the spicing (too much nutmeg, I think), and my oven is really bad when it comes to temperature. I had to cover the tart with tinfoil for the last 15 minutes of baking, lest the whole thing burn. (Oh and, yeah, the fire alarm went off for no reason.) Even after all of my fussing and maneuvers, I'm still not sure the store-bought pie crust* cooked all the way through. Boy do I miss gas ovens.

The only thing that might salvage this? Eating it off of Mottahedeh tin plates.

(Thanks, Emily Style, for the reminder.)

*Sorry, Mom and Dad! Just couldn't face making one myself this time.

the dressers are awesome and the pie looks very yummy despite the baking difficulties.
