A Little Whimsy

So this will be another one of those random collection of images posts. Ready? Set. Go!

I had a secret thing for pinwheels as a kid. They're kind of like fairy tales and balloons - totally useless but intoxicating in their simplicity. You keep blowing because, c'mon, something has to happen or else why would the adults have given them to you? (Because that way you're easily entertained and stop asking "But why?" all the time.) Naturally, I loved these pinwheels from Martha Stewart because they're: 1) easy to make, and 2) use origami paper, something I have a bounty of. My vision goes like this (also from Martha Stewart)...

...but instead of the hydrangeas decorating the pews, I'll fill small buckets with the pinwheels. Then we can have a photo taken of us leaving the ceremony with all of our guests lined up outside blowing their pinwheels, kind of like this shot from my soon-to-be wedding photographer, Ryan Brenizer. (Thanks, Tom, I can hardly contain my excitement!)

Trendy, perhaps, but I love the look of a candy bar, so Tom and I scored 12 apothecary jars for $12 at a tag sale (ahem, "garage sale") in my grandmother's town. Pardon the dust, and thanks Mom for spending all day washing them. This was a major score as these things can cost $20 a piece.

And finally, an inspirational image from the Sweet Paul blog. Sweet Paul is a "stylist," which means he arranges props and food for magazine shoots. Couple his talent with some marvelous photography, and you have some really inspiring images. I'm into French signage lately as an inspiration for the wedding invitations (more on that another day...), and this photo from today's blog hits the nail on the head.

Okay, and really finally, a picture of dahlias from Saipua's blog. I'm going to hire her for the flowers, she just doesn't know it yet. Watch out world, Anna's completed her surgery rotation and she. is. unstoppable.
