#356

It's been a rough couple of weeks (but I'm now, officially, a 4th Year!!!!), and it's been hard to feel cheery about the wedding. Yesterday was perfect, though, as we met with Melarosa and Margot of Classic Party Rentals to talk about "tablescaping." It was so uplifting to talk with people who love what they do, have not gotten jaded yet, and are unflappable. When we set out to plan this wedding, we went with our guts in terms of whom to hire, and our guts choose our wedding elves perfectly. It's like we found this little circle of people who are all connected and know how to work together. What a relief! Planning from 400 miles away, knowing that someone has your back. Typically I feel like I have my ideas all set and ready to go, but yesterday showed me how all over the place I still am...

So, we went with "mocha" pintuck overlays over the ivory tablecloths that the Metropolitan Building provides. We're also renting espresso brown folding chairs with white cushions, and we'll decide later on orange vs. ivory napkins.

The flowers will be orange, white, yellow, with shocks of blue thrown in for energy. I am so excited by this color scheme! It sounds dark, but here's an inspirational image:

(Bad blogger...I forgot the source. And I still hate birds.)

After our meeting, Mom and I trekked all over midtown to Sposabella Lace, M+J Trimmings, and Tinsel Trading Company trying to decide whether to buy a ridiculously expensive veil (veils are like wine at restaurants...that's where the markup is and the money gets made), try our hand at a DIY birdcage, or go without (my preference).

Finally, it was on to Jamali Garden to try and resurrect the pew lanterns (still a decision in progress), and then off to a toy store for Little Man's 1st birthday. It was a busy and full day, and thanks, Mom, for the company.

Congrats on 4th year. Now that I'm back from a bunch of business travel, I'm diving in (head first) on your invites this weekend. I can't wait!
