#454

I had high hopes for today. My next shift doesn't start until 11 PM, and it's in the pediatric ED, not the adult ED as I had thought. (Glad I caught that one!) But today was wasted because of yet another headache. Clerkship work is difficult because of the constantly shifting schedules and sleeping times. Good thing I can sleep any time, almost anywhere, but headaches are a typical price to pay. Oh well. It's still nice to spend the day in bed, catching glimpses of sunshine through the window.

A few years ago, my mother gifted me with a subscription to Dwell magazine. I think this was what kicked off my fascination with home design. I'm not a modern person the way Tom unabashedly is. But these three images from the February issue really struck a cord:

A bathroom in Japan. I love the idea of a rock garden inside the bathroom, and having to walk through it to get to the business side of things. Remember how awesome an outdoor shower is? Imagine having a pseudo-one every day?

This bathroom renovation from a house in Brookline Massachusetts really caught my eye because it's this wonderful mix of Japanese minimalism and Shaker sensibility. Just lovely.
