
Had a dreamily easy trip out and back to the Midwest for my St. Louis bridal shower. Will write a recap soon, but am desperately trying to learn ophthalmology before my start tomorrow in the OR at 7:15. I stumbled on this website tonight, Ophthobook.com. It is the perfect example of mixed media education, and what a single, motivated, person can do when they are a born natural at teaching. I found the eye anatomy video unbelievably compelling, and thought others might, too, whether or not you have an MD after your name. Note that the video is 25 minutes long, but again, super compelling.
Back in the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries, the eye was one of the examples most used to debate the ideological precursor to Darwin's concept of evolution. I never understood in college why the debate was so passionate, or why the eye was used as an example. But after watching these videos tonight, I realize what a marvel the eye is. Should have thought about ophthalmology sooner...
