***This entry is photo heavy!!!***
So I am one of those lucky few who have been blessed with more than one bridal shower. This weekend marked my NYC shower, graciously hosted by the Blog Sidekick in her excellent patio. (Yes, she has a backyard in NYC before the age of 30. She does not, however, have a washer dryer or a dishwasher, so she still loses the NYC apartment lottery.) I have a sense of how much hard work went in to pulling this off with Mom; my sister-in-law, Bonnie; my cousin, Erica; my 3 year-old neice, Ava; and the Blog Sidekick's mom, Karen all contributing mightily to the events. Words fail you at times like these, but I hope the pictures convey how much beauty and love the afternoon held. You can see more here.
First things first, the details:
Wow!!!
The table was so achingly beautiful. The Blog Sidekick totally intuited my favorite foods: fried chicken, cucumber and dill salad, potato salad, corn and basil salad, guacamole, pies, pies, and more pies...

The chalk mural my insanely talented cousin drew on the walls.
Of course my mother found awesome 1950's bridesmaids dolls, and a beautiful caketopper to go with them. Cross that one of the list of things to get.
60% of the wedding party: the Blog Sidekick, me, Erica, and Anat. Aren't they stunning?
Yes, I wore that obnoxious veil for almost the entire party.
Ava did a lot of heavy lifting...
...And her dolly, La la, helped too.
Thanks, Lynne!!!
Ava loved her reward for sorting all those presents...
Tom did the whole obligatory crash-the-party visit, which the guests loved.
The day before the shower was Erica's birthday, so after the shower we headed to the Met rooftop for cocktails. This year's sculpture installation is eerily reminiscent of our invitations...
The birthday girl, Bonnie, and me.

We all had the best time! I do feel the need to correct you on one thing, however. I DO have a dishwasher; you just couldn't see it because it is about a third of the size of a real dishwasher. Someday...
