Program Covers

Mom and I got to talking on the phone tonight about the wedding. When I first started planning a century ago, a bride wrote about the millions of little decisions that are made in planning. I think I was on surgery at the time, so I was all like, "Yeah right. Let's talk about a million decisions, like did I just nick the ureter?" But I see the folly of my ways. It's easy to get overwhelmed by the prospect of the number of decisions we are facing. I've found in life that taking small action - my new favorite concept in psychotherapy is "Just start" - can help ease mounting anxiety.

Mom randomly mentioned the wedding programs. Of course, I've already known about ideas I like for some time. This may not help soothe the anxiety because they are but dreams (and do-it-yourself projects, natch), but here are two ideas I'm loving:

Moire ribbon-covered programs, with the inserts sewn inside from Martha Stewart. (But of course.) This site has some really beautiful ribbon. I loved that when I described this idea to my mother, she had a whole story about a moire dress she once owned. My mom has style and class.

Martha Stewart again has an idea to create little felt pockets for the wedding programs. I like this idea because it's kind of a play on fall cozy, of bundling up as the weather chills. I've never really liked it in execution, until I saw the above image over on the Junk Drawer blog. The author made fabric pockets for her wedding invitations, and I adore the way they came out. I thought these would be neat for the programs.

Funny how my two wedding ideas of the day involve sewing. I'll have to post the status of my knitting soon.
