#409

My plan for thank you notes was to write 5 a day (keeps the sentiments fresh), and have them all mailed within four weeks of the wedding. My new goal is six weeks, as I keep adding residency program director thank you notes the pile as well. Half way through my wedding thank you notes, and I have a lot to be thankful for.

I have my grandmother. The one who couldn't have been happier with her lily-of-the-valley nosegay, the reason behind the cake buffet (it was her birthday the day after the wedding, and you bet we surprised her with her very own cake), the artist behind our favors, and the artist behind our thank you notes.

I have my brother and sister-in-law who spent hours "stealing" time with the fancy printers at the national magazine where my brother works to print our favors and thank you notes. (They spent months finding the right paper and texture, and believe me when I tell you that the paintings look like real, true watercolors.) And of course, they were the most beautiful guests at the party.

I am thankful for my niece and nephew whose antics and musings keep me laughing. ("Aunt Anna, do not sit on my dress. It's very pretty.")

I am thankful for my parents, my mother who gets it, my father who keeps the home fires bright.

I am thankful for Tom's parents, for Lynne's "anything can be" and Gary's pinwheels, photo sign, microscopes, and fancy dancing.

I am thankful for friends the world over.

And I am thankful for my husband who brings me flowers...

Happy Thanksgiving, World.
