Most brides complain about how rude their guest list can be. Me, I love my guest list. We have four days to go until our RSVP deadline, and around half of the guest list has already sent their responses. Only one person has added a "plus one"- and I'm totally cool with that because they're an old family friend and have helped a great deal in the last few months. And 95% of the "no" responses have included a sweet little note. It's shaping up to be a fair mix of young and old. As the saying goes, "It's the people who make the party." I think I should be excited for this one.

And a little humor. Tom and I traveled to San Francisco this weekend for a wedding at the Fairmont. We had a wonderful weekend, and have become quite the expert travelers. In the past year alone, we have traveled to Orlando, Indianapolis, Chicago, San Francisco, Boston, St. Louis, New York, Rochester, and Cape Cod. Sunday was a free day following the wedding, and we decided to walk down Nob Hill to the Ferry Building for lunch. The Ferry Building is right up our alley as it is an indoor market filled with all sorts of tempting deliciousness. Towards the Northern end of the building, we stumbled upon Miette, one of the popular cupcake/macaroon bakeries. Indeed, French macaroons have become something of a trend in West Coast weddings, with whole color schemes devoted to which macaroon can be given as favors. Naturally, Tom and I, the wedding experts of 2009, decide to try a few macaroons. We're sitting along the pier, watching the Berkeley ferry wend its way into the dock, halfway through our chocolate and lavender macaroon when Tom quietly declares, "I think I've just eaten a bar of soap." So much for wedding trends.

Macaroons are jamazing. The best place for them here (that I've found) is a little French bakery on 23rd between 6th and 7th.
